Bennett Finally Scores, Panthers Run Away from Ducks in Anaheim

Sam Bennett finally ended his goal drought Tuesday night and he helped the Florida Panthers beat the Anaheim Ducks 5-2 late Tuesday night in southern California.



Florida scored three goals in the opening period, but it was a single-goal game until Bennett scored his first in 20 games with a shot from the high slot 17 seconds into the third.

Bennett had not scored a goal since Dec. 3 against the Penguins.

Sam Reinhart, Carter Verhaeghe, Evan Rodrigues, and Uvis Balinskis also scored for the Panthers.

Sergei Bobrovsky made 28 saves for the win.

The Panthers will remain in the Los Angeles area, visiting the Kings tonight at 10 on TNT.

NOTES: PANTHERS @ DUCKS

  • The Panthers have a 10-game point streak against the Ducks dating to Nov. 21, 2019 (9-0-1) which is their second-longest active run versus a single opponent. The Panthers have won 11 straight against the Sharks.

  • Panthers 2, Ducks 1 (17:57 1st): A.J. Greer feeds Evan Rodrigues who sees his initial shot get blocked, but he stays with it and sends the rebound back and it goes off Dostal and in.
