Tkachuk tonight show

The Florida Panthers are in Nashville, but star forward Matthew Tkachuk was in New York and will appear on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon later this evening.

Tkachuk was perhaps the breakout star of the NHL’s 4 Nations Face-Off, perhaps considering he is in just about every hockey-related commercial aside from that Boston-based doughnut chain.

The show, which is taped earlier in the day, features Jimmy Fallon welcoming in guests Chelsea Handler, Billy Crudup, Tkachuk, and a performance from Waxahatchee.

This is not the first time Tkachuk has made a high-profile television appearance.

In 2023, with his Florida Panthers in the Stanley Cup Final, Tkachuk went to Miami to join the Inside the NBA crew on TNT before the Heat played the Celtics.

Tkachuk, who won the Cup with the Panthers last year, is not with the team due to an injury he sustained playing for Team USA at the 4 Nations tournament.

In the game against Canada that he opened by fighting Brandon Hagel, Tkachuk was hurt and did not finish.

He missed Team USA’s next game against Sweden, and only played 6:47 in the championship loss to Canada.

Tkachuk is believed to have a groin injury.

Coach Paul Maurice said Monday that the Panthers “are not worried” about Tkachuk, saying the injury would not end his season.

The Tonight Show starts at 11:35 on NBC (WTVJ-6 in Miami, WPTV-5 in West Palm) and can also be streamed on Peacock.
