Out of work? Always wanted to be an NHL mascot? Well, you’re in luck. The Florida Panthers are currently hiring for someone willing to transform themselves into the new Stanley C. Panther.

Or, at least the backup.

The team currently has their Stanley C., but are still looking for help.

And, if you can skate — and don’t mind being lowered from the arena ceiling onto the ice during the playoffs — it could be you!

According to a post from the team on TeamworkOnline.com, the Panthers are hiring and, the job description is pretty unique.

According to the post, the team is hiring for the title of Part-time Entertainment Staff: Mascot & Mascot Handler.’

The employment is part-time, yes, but your office would be the Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise.

Not too shabby.

According to the job summary, the Panthers are seeking a fun and energetic individual to take us to the next level in our mascot program! Bring your passion for performance and eye for creativity as we evolve the Stanley C. Panther program.

So, what do you have to do?

According to the job description, they include representing the Florida Panthers at all public appearances as an ambassador of the Florida Panthers brand as defined by the Game Presentation Team.

One would also have to do skits, in-game activations, on-ice games, sponsorship requirements, autograph sessions, and other in-game needs as determined.

Want to roll t-shirts, prepare prize packs, and stock in-game supplies?

You’re in luck.

That’s part of the deal as well.

Now, you’ll need “strong communication over headset and walkie with all game night staff” as well as “maintain upkeep and cleanliness of Florida Panthers Mascot Van.”

You know there are car washes with vacuums all over the Sunrise metroplex, right?

So, that part of the gig is easy.

Here’s the deal: You better be available for most Florida Panthers home games. Including weekends & holidays, and be 18 years or older to apply and a legal citizen of the United States of America with reliable transportation.

Even though mascots do not talk, at least while masked up, you “must have excellent communication skills, personable, work under pressure, and strong punctuality.’’

If you’re really not into hockey, this may not be the job for you.

“General hockey knowledge and skating ability preferred.”

In other words, don’t wear a Carolina Panthers shirt to the interview thinking it will give you the inside edge.

So, If you are able to work under pressure, and have a positive attitude and strong work ethic, this may be your big chance.

Of course, you better be in shape.

Stanley C. Panther has a 6-pack, after all.

“Be in exceptional physical health to withstand conditions within a mascot costume and/or outdoor appearances in Florida,” the qualifications say.

If you are unable “to lift 25 pounds,’’ move along, bunky.

Of course, Florida Hockey Now is always looking for people unable to lift 25 pounds and have problems communicating over walkie talkies.

You will still have to roll t-shirts.

And occasionally have to be dropped from the press box onto the ice.

But that’s a given.

Good luck!
