No All-Star Weekend, but how about a Florida Panthers Mailbag?

This would have been the weekend the NHL’s biggest and brightest stars would have descended into South Florida for a few days of rest, relaxation and some hockey.

Oh well.

The Panthers hope to play host to the 2022 NHL All-Star Weekend after the 2021 version was cancelled due to the pandemic — and all the restrictions which have come with holding this season at all.

So, instead of stargazing in Fort Lauderdale and Sunrise, we will have to settle for watching the Panthers play a two-game set in Detroit this weekend.

It’ll have to do.

To set the mood for the Panthers’ final series of this odd opening month to the 2021 season, it’s time for the January Mailbag.

You know the deal; if you have any questions about the Panthers — or really, anything — go ahead and ask them.

I will try and answer them all on Friday.

To get your questions in, feel free to leave them on the comment section of this post or visit the Twitter link above and do it there. Whatever’s easier.

I will jump into these on Friday and post them with my answers later in the day.

Hey, it’s not the skills competition, but it’s something.

Here is last month’s mailbag — one done before training camp even started — if you want to go back in  time a little.

Merry New Year! The final Florida Panthers mailbag of 2020

George, do you think one of the reasons for trying to move Yandle is the expansion draft. If he is still here they will have to protect him due to his NMC. If he is moved, I see the Panthers protecting Ekblad and Weegar. Who would be the 3rd D protected. Also, are you done doing podcast, or will you be bringing them back?

T Graham

Hi George, any chance a trade involving Yandle is in the works? Potentially yielding Gostisbehere or maybe even Vince Dunn?

Hi George. Past seasons the Panthers have honored a player in the locker room after the game with things like a rugby ball, Cadet jacket, Infinity Gauntlet. Has that tradition begun this season? If so, what are they awarding the player with?

Craig Mirek

Hi George! How unusual is it that yesterdays lineup contained 7 defensemen? Are any of the defensemen being considered for a hybrid role ala Mark Pysyk?

Did Brady Keeper have a bad camp? I thought Q liked him? Instead they pick up the two borderline
guys off waivers.

T Graham

What’s the deal with Lomberg? Only one game played and on waivers.
